The founder of Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) is Daryl Katz. He is a Canadian businessman and philanthropist, born on May 31, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Katz graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in law and then went on to earn a degree in business administration from the same university. He is the chairman and CEO of the Katz Group, which is a privately held company involved in real estate development, pharmacy retailing, and sports and entertainment.

In 2007, Katz purchased the Edmonton Oilers NHL team, and through his ownership of the team, he established OEG. The group has since expanded to include the Edmonton Oil Kings junior hockey team, the Bakersfield Condors AHL team, Rogers Place arena, and other entertainment ventures.

Aside from his business ventures, Katz is also a philanthropist. He has donated millions of dollars to various charitable causes, including health care, education, and sports. In 2019, he made a $25 million donation to the University of Alberta to establish a new health initiative.
